Manage Stress

It is managing stress that is important. Stress itself is not the problem; it is too much stress of the wrong kind. After all, we need a certain amount of stress in our lives in order to function and stay alert.

At one end the stress continuum, too much stress has been described as ‘fear spread thin’. At the other end, boredom can also produce stressful situations.

The main problem is how we react to various stressors. Some people find situations normal and easy to cope with while others find them too much.

The effects of stress can also be cumulative if steps are not taken to either relieve the source of the stress, or to adapt and develop coping strategies.

The programme comprises four sessions. The first session to analyse the client’s issues and address sleep and relaxation which are frequently the first and most overt symptoms of stress. Subsequent sessions, initially a further 3 address issues and training in understanding stress and managing it.

The programme includes a CD to support relaxation and self-confidence and a client workbook.

Because of the wide difference between what is and is not stressful to different individuals and the fact that the actual stressors may be sub-conscious, it is difficult to say exactly which interventions will work best.

Stress may result from  low self confidence or low self-esteem, nerves and anxiety, a long held fear or a bad experience in the past. Equally, prolonged stress may result in each and any of the above. Hypnotherapy, NLP, CBT, or Time Line Therapy can be very effective, and a combination may offer the best solution for managing the causes or psychological effects of stress.

It is recommended that you call, either 0131 208 3 208 or 07749 478 785 for an initial no obligation chat.
