We offer two weight loss programmes offering different ways to lose weight
To help decide which method is best suited to your needs, consider the following.
Are you over orunder weight? Your perception may be wrong because an ideal body weight for your frame may not fit the ‘norm’. There is more likely a range within which your weight is okay. You should check it out first. See the BMI Chart in the Resources Section.
Do you just want a different shape? Perhaps you want to get into last summer’s wardrobe (assuming it’s still in fashion), drop a dress size or be able to tighten the belt on your trousers a notch or two?
Do you want to feel fitter and more energetic?
Changing your weight comes from changing the balance between calories input and calories used, unless there is a medical, genetic or hormonal cause. Normally, taking in 500 more calories per day than you use will add one pound in weight per week. Conversely, to lose a pound you will need to burn off an extra 3,500 calories, or 7,700 calories to burn off a kilogram. One source† has suggested that to burn 500 calories would require
30 minutes walking upstairs or using a skiing machine
60 minutes jogging, aerobic dancing, skipping, tennis or cycling
120 minutes swimming, horse riding, dancing, badminton or volleyball
150 minutes walking, housework or gardening.

While it is important to point out that hypnotherapy, CBT and NLP are unlikely to address genetic or hormonal causes of overweight, the causes of excess weight may be due to a combination of factors that each need to be addressed properly. The two programmes are summarised below.
This therapy is more suited to someone classed as obese, i.e. who has a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30 or more, although those with a lower BMI who are significantly overweight may also consider this therapy.
Among those who may particularly benefit are people with a major weight problem with attendant serious health issues who need to lose weight quickly but for whom exercise is impractical. They may even need surgery but must lose weight before it is safe to proceed with it.

How does it work? Using hypnotherapy, a state of mind is created where you will believe
you actually have a Gastric Band fitted! By feeling full sooner, you will eat smaller

The therapy typically takes four sessions, each lasting approximately one hour. The first session starts with a full assessment of your habits, problems and the emotional triggers that are generally the cause of overeating. Cognitive Behaviour Therapy techniquies are then applied, reinforced under hypnosis to begin the necessary change process.
Session 2 reviews progress and any difficulties experienced with appropriate reinforcement and guidance, then under hypnosis you will be taken through a consultation with the surgeon.
Session 3 takes you under hypnosis through the operation to have your gastric band fitted. If you come in a car, you should have someone with you to take you home afterwards.
Session 4 reviews progress and under hypnosis you may have the band adjusted if required and completes the therapy with a session on creating an intelligent relationship with food.
By using the power of suggestion and visualization your mind will be convinced that your stomach has become smaller and that you need less food. By eating less and less often you will begin to lose weight.
Clients receive a workbook containing information, tips, control charts and CDs for home use. The therapy usually takes 4 to 5 weeks.
Should a booster session be desired, and this is down to personal choice, this can be provided at a preferential rate.
This programme typically consists of 8 sessions, although this may be reduced depending on the activities or things the client may already be doing.
It is targeted at changing attitudes and lifestyle and is aimed more at managing
gradual and sustainable weight control. It includes addressing areas such as emotional
or comfort eating, sensible food choices and relationship with food, eating habits,
improving motivation to exercise, etc. and includes a session on self-
Treatment includes home based assignments, a free report and up to 4 CDs from sessions 5 through 8 to reinforce and support the therapy sessions.
All Weight Loss clients have access to a dedicated Client Area where they can download additional forms and information to help them manage and monitor change
