Stress

It is not stress of itself that is the problem; it is too much stress of the wrong kind. After all, we all need a certain amount of stress in our lives in order to function and stay alert. At one end the stress continuum, too much stress has been described as ‘fear spread thin’. At the other end, boredom can also produce stressful situations.

The main problem is how we react to various stressors. Some people find situations normal and easy to cope with which others find too much.

The effects of stress can also be cumulative if steps are not taken to either relieve the source of the stress, or to adapt and develop coping strategies.

Because of the wide difference between what is and is not stressful to different individuals and the fact that the actual stressors may be sub conscious, it is difficult to say exactly which interventions will work best and a combination may offer the best solution.
